Predatory Plants
Located in Half Moon Bay on California’s Pacific Coast, Predatory Plants is slinging sought-after plants in the carnivorous space. Never from the wild, their many offerings either propagated by them, or are purchased from reputable nurseries.
Built On
What We Did
- Branding
- Web Design
- Web Development

Due to their passion and crazy knowledge when it comes to carnivorous plants, Predatory grew quickly, but their logo was an afterthought. With a retail storefront in the works and a new website on the whiteboard, we embarked on a logo redesign voyage. Because the first thing you think of is a Venus Flytrap, we eliminated that tired path and went in the direction of the Pitcher Plant. Due to their, ahem, similarities to other shapes found in the natural world, we had to go deep. After bringing a lot of solid directions to the table, we nailed it with an elegant, timeless, and stain glass inspired motif that even a carnivorous plant-loving grandma would adore.

Killer Intent
When they first contacted us about the project, Predatory’s site was running on a Volusion template that was growing more toxic by the day. A high priority was to move over to Shopify, and fast. We didn’t want the same old hero banner rectangle with a photo in the background that you’ll see on most sites, so we sourced classic illustrations to make an immediate and engaging impact. The homepage has a natural flow that has just the right amount of balance of their important content without being too long.
